Student Projects
Author's Purpose
In this project, the students searched a newspaper for elements that were intended to inform, entertain, or persuade. It was interesting how many pieces could have fit in more than one column. The class had some terrific 'lightbulb' moments about author's purpose with this activity.
Visualizing Patriotism
As an activator for our upcoming Civics Unit, the students participated in a visualizing activity. As they listened to patriotic music, they were to draw whatever feelings/images/etc. that came to mind. I think we're ready for the unit!
