Absences

Regular attendance is encouraged because much of what happens (group work, learning games) cannot be reproduced at home.  All absent work will be presented to your student upon return to school.  Two days for each day absent are granted for completing this work at home.  Recess time may also be used.

Homework

Based on Smyrna School District guidelines, homework is assigned Monday through Thursday and should take about 30 minutes to complete.  This is in addition to 30 minutes of AR reading nightly.  Homework that is not complete will be done at recess the following day.  If your child has not brought a parent note, a Behavior Chart will come home so you are aware that your child has not turned in homework.  The Behavior Charts are one of the ways I try and keep communication open all year long!

Try to become a member of the 100% Homework Heroes!  You can do it!

Behavior Charts

Speaking of Behavior Charts, these will come home any time necessary.  Not every child will have a Behavior Chart every week.  If a Behavior Chart comes home, it is expected to be returned signed by a parent within 2 days.  Behavior Charts will be used for any misbehavior I feel the need to let you know about.  Feel free to write me notes back on the Behavior Chart, as well!

Home Folder

This will be your baby (but don't feed it or get it dirty)!  Take care of it!  The "Leave at Home" side is for anything you should clean out each night at home.

Effort

It is expected that students will always put in their best effort.  Perfection is not our goal, but perseverance is.  I will keep my expectations high so that students can soar to their best!
